Liberals hold power in BC…barely

It was a very close election in British Columbia, but Premier Christy Clark’s Liberals did end up on top with 43 seats to the NDP’s 41. The Green Party will hold the balance of power after winning three seats. It’s the first minority government in that province since the early ’50s.

Don Meredith resigns from Senate

Don Meredith is a senator no more.

He resigned yesterday before the other senators had a chance to vote on kicking him out of the upper chamber over hgis affair with a teenage girl.

Democratic Institutions Minister Karina Gould commended the Senate for taking action against Meredith, saying it’s important to recognize that the Senate has decided sexual misconduct is unacceptable in any work place.
