The provincial Office of the Child and Youth Advocate has released its eighth annual State of the Child Report. Negatives include the rate of hospitalization for mental issues being high, only half who seek mental health services get them within 30 days, and the percentage of youth in pre-trial detention is considerably higher than elsewhere in Canada. Norman Bossé does say there’s a concentrated effort to address needs.

Fredericton-area employers cautiously optimistic about 2017: Manpower
Fredericton-area employers expect a cautiously optimistic hiring climate for the first quarter of 2017. The latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey shows 9% plan to hire, and 9% also expect cutbacks. 81% plan to maintain the status quo, and 1% aren’t sure.
