The provincial Office of the Child and Youth Advocate has released its eighth annual State of the Child Report. Negatives include the rate of hospitalization for mental issues being high, only half who seek mental health services get them within 30 days, and the percentage of youth in pre-trial detention is considerably higher than elsewhere in Canada. Norman Bossé does say there’s a concentrated effort to address needs.
