Not guilty verdict in home invasion

A 33 year old Saint John man has been found not guilty on home invasion charges. Mathew Paul Martin was on trial on a number of charges in connection with a home invasion on the east side in May.

Justice Thomas Christie in his decision yesterday questioned the testimony of the man convicted of the actual robbery.

Christie has been in custody on remand for seven months…and while free on these charges he’s not clear yet. He’s still facing a trial next year on a mischief charge dating back to January.

Snowmobile fatal

A 47 year old man is dead after a snowmobile accident on a trail in the Three Tree Creek area Wednesday night.

Friends and family of the Hoyt man found his body yesterday morning after he failed to return from a run Wednesday night. He apparently went off the trail and hit a tree while snowmobiling alone.

Oromocto RCMP are investigating.
