CB moose cull begins tomorrow

The moose cull in Cape Breton Highlands National Park is due to begin tomorrow.

Protesters are devising plans to disrupt it. A member of the Friends of the Cape Breton Moose says the group intends to cause confusion next weekend once the cull is underway. The hunt could continue until December 18.

Muskrat Falls flooding begins

Water levels have started to rise at the Muskrat Falls hydro project in Labrador.

Premier Dwight Ball confirmed flooding of a reservoir near Happy Valley-Goose Bay has begun. He says the initial flooding will bring water levels up to where they usually are in the spring runoff.

Three aboriginal governments issued a joint statement saying the flooding is necessary…but that more effort is needed to prevent mercury contamination.
