Education Minister suspends provincial assessments

Education minister Karen Casey says the suspension of the provincial student assessments is not part of a strategy to cope with the potential teachers’ strike. Casey says she merely wants to free up teachers so they can spend more time instructing their students.

The N-S-T-U called Casey’s move symbolic since almost all the assessments for this school year are already done.

Voyeurism charges dropped

Two voyeurism charges against a Halifax man have been dismissed by a judge.

57 year old Peter John Mills was charged after two women complained inappropriate pictures of them were taken at a Dartmouth mall in August last year.  He was supposed to go to trial yesterday but the crown offered no evidence saying it was their view the search and seizure of his phone was unlawful….but provided no details.
