QEII Home Lottery winner

A Yarmouth man has won the QEII home lottery.

Ed Cleveland is self-employed, running his own excavator business. His wife Darlene works in insurance and was in Newfoundland at a trade show when the draw was made this week. The couple live in a barn-style house Cleveland built in his father’s backyard 18 years ago. His 25 year old son works here in the military.

The winner of the grand prize cottage in Chester Basin is Michael Anstey of Kentville. He and his wife Cindy have lived all over the world but returned to the Valley to retire a few years ago.

Fish plant will be rebuilt

The Chinese owners of the Eastern Passage fish plant that burned Wednesday night say they will rebuild…better than before.

Capital Seafoods went up in flames around 9:00pm producing a huge ball of flames.  The building was a complete loss and was torn down yesterday. The Coast Guard was called to place a boom around the area to stop any debris from getting away in the water. A number of fishermen also lost gear stored at the building.
