Beer Fest

Dubbed the “largest celebration of craft beer on Cape Breton Island,” this inaugural Cape Breton Beer Fest is about more than the frosty brews on tap. Featuring an assortment of craft and microbreweries, the festival also aims to celebrate Cape Breton culture, music and food. The festival will be split into an afternoon session (2-4:30 p.m.) and an evening session (7-9:30 p.m.) today.

Van Attack

A Glace Bay man has been released on bail in connection with an incident where a man was run down by a van during an argument early Sunday morning.

30 year old James Russell Mauger is charged with forcible entry, assault, assault with a weapon and breach of probation. The judge granted bail yesterday and he will be back in court December 15th to enter a plea.

Mauger was charged after an incident outside a Bruce Street residence where a 32 year old man was hit by a van. He’s recovering in hospital in Halifax.
