Burning Couch Sets Fire to Saint John Residence

The Saint John Fire Department is investigating after a burning sofa nearly burned down a house. The Telegraph Journal is reporting that the Fire department responded to residence on Saint John Street around 3am on Saturday morning. A couch that was leaning up against the residence was fully engulfed in flames and the fire was spreading to the house. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before it took hold of the residence. The house suffered minor damage to it’s siding.

Fire Closes Moncton Sports Dome Closed

A fire last night has forced the Moncton Sports Dome to close its doors. Firefighters responded to the blaze in the office section of the multi-purpose indoor sports facility on Russ Howard Drive around 9pm. The Times and Transcript is reporting that the fire was limited to the offices, located in a mini-home in front of the facility, and that the sports dome itself was not damaged. Dome officials closed the facility for today and it’s unclear when it will reopen.
