The death toll from a fire that gutted an Oakland warehouse during a late night dance party is 33. That is likely to climb as fire fighters dig through the rubble. Only about half the partially-collapsed structure has been searched…and people are still reported missing.
The building had been divided into artist studios and was an illegal home to at least a dozen people.
Alberta’s premier isn’t commenting after chants of “lock her up” at an Edmonton rally for federal Conservative leadership candidate Chris Alexander on the weekend.
Alexander, a former immigration minister, said he didn’t stop the crowd from calling for Rachel Notley to be jailed because he said politicians need to listen to constituents. Then yesterday, he said he totally disapproved. However, video of the rally shows him smiling and gesturing in time with the chants.
