The Halifax Regional School Board has hired security guards at some schools to provide extra security in the schoolyards before the teachers arrive to work to rule. 15 schools will have guards to watch over students who arrive by bus early.

Minister in hospital after heart attack
Justice Minister Diana Whalen has taken a brief leave from cabinet after being hospitalized Monday with a heart attack.
Whalen is expected to make a full recovery. Michel Samson will handle her duties in the meantime.
