The lighthouse at Scatarie Island is shining brighter thanks to new solar panels.
The Coast Guard says a crew was on Scatarie Island replacing solar panels that were two decades old with newer ones to ensure a safe navigational aid for mariners. The two, 260 watt solar panels replaced a system that was 20 years old and included a horn, detector and an incandescent light.
The Gaelic College will host the first Gaelic summit in Canada tomorrow and Friday.
Delegates from Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man will be joined at St. Ann’s by various Gaelic-related organizations and businesses, government and education centres around the Maritimes.
