RCMP say 33-year-old Lionel Desmond, his 31-year-old wife Shanna, their 10-year old daughter Aaliyah and his 52-year-old mother Brenda were shot last night in Upper Big Tracadie. The situation appears to be a murder-suicide, with Lionel’s wounds being self-inflicted. He’s served with the army in Afghanistan, and had PTSD.

Violent robbery
A 40 year old Dartmouth was beaten and robbed last night on Maplehurst Drive.
He had arranged to meet a woman and when he got there he was beaten by a man with a board and robbed. Witnesses gave police a description and a suspect was arrested a short time later near Newcastle Street and Old Ferry Road. A 21 year old Boutiliers Point man will be in court today.
