Trudeau shuffles the deck

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has shaken up his cabinet in preparation for the Donald Trump administration in Washington.

The main change was moving Toronto M-P Chrystia Freeland from international trade to global affairs, replacing Stephane Dion.

Freeland will be responsible for dealing with Trump as he brings his America-first approach to Washington.

She is also expected to take a hardline when it comes to Canada’s relations with Russia.

Also appointed was Toronto MP Ahmed Hussen to Immigration.

He was born in Somalia.

Obama speech

President Barack Obama said goodbye to the White House in an emotional speech last night to the American people.

With Donald Trump ready to be sworn in on January 20th, Obama admitted there were disappointments during his eight-year tenure in the White House.

He cited ongoing racial tensions and economic inequality.

He also defended his vision for the future saying his faith in America has not been shaken.
