City considers doubling parking fines

Parking fines may double soon…but business are complaining. Council is looking at doubling the current parking fines which range from $25 to $100. Staff point out that’s low compared to other cities.

The Downtown Halifax Business Commission, however, is working with the city and Waterfront Development Corporation to make finding a parking space downtown less frustrating.

More low-cost bus passes

There may be more low cost bus passes available soon.

Halifax Transit says a pilot project over the last six months has been very successful and drawn positive comments. 500 half price monthly passes were made available to low income people. Now they’re looking to double that to 1,000.
