The Moncton Hospital is getting major renovations over the next five years worth almost $35 million.
Cardiac care areas will be relocated and improved. There will also be new units for neonatal intensive care, maternity and newborns as well. The government says this restructuring will produce a more efficient and safer environment for family-centred care.
A new survey of hospital patients in the province finds overall satisfaction with care has increased, but cleanliness is down.
The survey last year found 78.9% of patients were satisfied, up from 75.4% in 2013. Only 51.7% said their room and bathroom were always clean, down from 53.2%.
Among the 20 acute care hospitals, the Moncton Hospital reported the lowest satisfaction rate at 39%. Saint John Regional Hospital topped the survey at 83%.
