Sentencing

A Moncton woman will be sentenced March 14th for robbing JM Convenience Store.

27 year old Shantelle Isabelle Goguen-Liebeck, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to using a handgun to rob the store of cash and cigarettes in mid-January. She faces a minimum five year sentence for the robbery. She’s already serving a 14 month sentence for selling drugs to an undercover police officer.

26 year old Devlin Earl O’Blenis is also charged in the robbery.

Winter Tickets

The number of parking tickets for overnight parking has spiked this winter.

Public Works Director Don Morehouse told the Times and Transcript it’s because they have a second bylaw officer on duty. Between December 1st and February 22nd, they had written 1,432 tickets compared to 916 in the same period last year.

Morehouse says the additional officer has helped keep vehicles off the roads when crews are trying to clear snow. He also says the officers sometimes will go knock on a door and ask that a car be moved and residents have been compliant.
