Port Hawksbury boost from the feds

Ottawa is providing half a million dollars to the Regional Occupational Centre in Port Hawksbury to renovate and expand.

Executive director Diane Poirier told the Cape Breton Post the funding is going to change the lives of so many people who use their services which are for those with intellectual or physical disabilities.  They’ll be able to expand the storefront space where they sell baked goods, crafts and other items.

Yarmouth doctor recruitment

The Nova Scotia Health Authority says that pediatrician recruitment for the Yarmouth hospital is a top priority.

They used to have two pediatricians, but one retired; and another relocated, which means there are no pediatricians at the regional health centre.
