Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser told The Leader that details about the development of a clinic at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, should be released later this year.
It would be the first of its kind in the Miramichi area to serve its rapidly aging population.
The 2017 North American Indigenous Games are underway in Toronto, and ten athletes are representing the Listuguj First Nation on the Quebec side of the Restigouche River across from Campbellton.
More than 5,000 athletes from all over North America are competing in the games, which end on Sunday.
