Avalanche buries luxury hotel in Italy

An avalanche has buried a four-star mountain hotel in an earthquake-hit region of central Italy, leaving at least 30 people missing.

Several strong quakes hit the Abruzzo region yesterday but it’s not clear if the temors triggered the snowslide which buried the three-storey Hotel Rigopiano, near the coastal city of Pescara .

Obama with final advice for Trump

President Barack Obama is warning Donald Trump that actions typically create reactions.

Obama was speaking to reporters at his final news conference from the White House but seemed to be speaking to one person in particular. Obama said he expects the new president will test assumptions on various matters but also warned that there will be consequences. In particular, he noted Trump’s plan to move the U-S embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in Israel, which could have explosive results.
