Minister wants to change salmon management

The federal Fisheries Minister is considering a change to salmon management operations in New Brunswick.

Dominic Leblanc told Brunswick News he would like to see a return to a river by river management system in the future which could allow fishermen to keep grilse or juvenile salmon in some healthier rivers rather than catch and release on all rivers. For now, though, things will stay the same. Leblanc said there will have to be discussions with the province which will have a key role to play.
