Tories want appeal extension on property assessments

The Conservatives continue to call on the government to extend the deadline for filing an appeal of property assessments.

Blaine Higgs says many people may not realize the government has admitted there were mistakes in thousands of assessment bills. Some people were looking at double digit increases even though there’d been little or no work done to their properties.

So far, the government says over 3,400 New Brunswickers have already appealed. There are two weeks left before the deadline of March 31st.

Canadian charged along with Russians in Yahoo hack

An Ontario man, originally from Kazakhstan, has been arrested in connection with the U-S investigation into a massive cyber attack againstĀ  Yahoo three years ago.

22 year-old Karim Baratov was arrested outside Hamilton at the request of American officials. He’s accused of being one of the hackers involved in the security breach, along with two Russian intelligence officers.

500 million user accounts belonging to American government officials, Russian journalists opposed to Vladimir Putin, and ordinary email users were affected.
