Protestors on both sides of a federal motion calling for the condemnation of Islamophobia clashed at Winnipeg City Hall yesterday.
There were a few punches thrown but it was mostly pushing and shoving between supporters of the motion and a group called Soldiers of Odin which patrols the streets of Winnipeg protecting people from what it sees as a perceived threat by immigrants.
In the MHL…Western Capitals beat the Commandos 5-1 in Dieppe…giving Summerside a two game to one lead in their first round playoff series.
NHL action saw the Canadiens down Ottawa 4-1 to move four points ahead of Ottawa in their divisional race. The Flames beat the Kings 5-2. Jets tamed the Wild 5-4.
In the NBA…the Raptors pummeled Indiana 116-91. Celtics lost to the Sixers 105-99.
In the NBL….Miracles pounded Highlanders 120-95.
Canadian Adam Hadwin finished three strokes behind Marc Leishman at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Hadwin won his first P-G-A event last week at the Valspar Championship.
