Work begins Monday on new Petitcodiac Bridge

Work on the new bridge which will replace the Petitcodiac River causeway begins Monday. So drivers should be aware and prepare for some slowdowns.

The Transportation Department says the construction on the $61 million bridge will cause temporary lane closures and changes in traffic patterns.

Residents pan Parlee plan

Area residents are panning the province’s plans to curb pollution at Parleee Beach.

They want a moratorium on future development until the polluttion problems are solved. Pointe-du-Chene resident Arthur Melanson told CBC the announcement Wednesday that the provincial and federal governments will spend up to $3 million on Parlee Beach infrastructure and studies doesn’t go far enough. He called it just a bandaid on the wound.
