Beluga back with his buddies

A wayward beluga whale rescued in northern New Brunswick has now been tracked in an area of the St. Lawrewnce estuary off Quebec which is frequented by belugas.

Officials involved in the rescue are hopeful it’s in communication and perhaps even in physical contact with the other belugas and will be okay.

The whale that wandered alone into the Nepisiguit River was captured June 15th and transported to Quebec where it was released.

Arrests at First Nations protest on Parliament Hill

10 demonstrators were arrested on Parliament Hill yesterday evening during an Indigenous rally which organizers say was to kick off a four-day reoccupation ceremony to counter Canada’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

Demonstrators carried wooden poles to erect a large teepee, but police blocked the group just inside the gates. 10 people were detained briefly before being released on condition they stay off Parliament Hill for six months. But others later erected a large teepee in front of the Parliament buildings.
