Another class action lawsuit aimed at the Navy

A former Canadian Navy sailor on the west coast is launching a proposed class-action lawsuit in efforts to change what she calls the culture of fear, harassment, abuse and assault against female and gay members in the military.

34 year old Nicola Peffers, who was based at CFB Esquimault outside Victoria, served on frigates, but left the navy in 2012. Peffers says she was subjected to unwanted sexual advances by superiors and her complaints were ignored.

A similiar class-action lawsuit has also been launched on this coast.

Lock her up controversy

A weekend rally in which chants of ”lock her up” were directed at Alberta Premier Rachel Notley is being widely condemned.

Opposition Wildrose Leader Brian Jean and others have denounced the chant at a rally for Conservative Leadership candidate Chris Alexander.  The lock her up chant comes from the rallies of Donald Trump and were aimed at Hilary Clinton. Jean says there’s no place for American, Trump-style politics in Alberta.
