Viola Desmond will be the first woman on a Canadian banknote. Finance Minister Bill Morneau says she’ll be on the $10 bill when the next series goes out in 2018. Desmond is often described as Canada’s Rosa Parks for sitting in a whites-only section of a New Glasgow, NS movie theatre in 1946.

Prelim set in deadly accident case
A woman will be back in court for a preliminary hearing in January in connection with a fatal accident last month.
The Times and Transcript reports 34 year old Melissa Amanda Lane entered not guilty pleas on seven charges in connection with the accident on MacLaughlin Drive at Morton Avenue which killed 66 year old Raymond Keays.
Lane remains in custody after being denied bail….and her lawyer is appealing that.
