UNB will reinstate women’s varsity hockey starting in 2018-19. A human rights complaint was filed by a former player in 2009, after the university downgraded the team to club status but kept the men as is. This new agreement was made between UNB, the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission and Sylvia Dooley, formerly Bryson.

Free second-language training starts in January
Free second-language training for eligible unemployed adults will start next month. The province announced $1 million in funding for this in the fall, with the program open to those who identified second-language training in their Employment Action Plan with a counsellor. Anyone interested should contact their local Regional Employment Office.
