Rally for Ellen’s Law

A rally was held yesterday in Saint John to push for “Ellen’s Law” in New Brunswick.

The rally was organized by friends and family of competitive cyclist Ellen Watters who died Wednesday as a result of injuries she sustained after being struck by a vehicle while training on her bike near Sussex just before Christmas.

People at the rally called for the province to enact a law to keep motorists at least a metre away when passing cyclists on the roads.

New Year’s Eve violence

A New Year’s Eve party ended abruptly in Fredericton when a teen was stabbed at a house on the northside.

Police arrived and found a teen who had been stabbed several times. The injuries were serious but not life-threatening accordinjg to police.

They said there were 30-40 people at the party and many were intoxicated. They have one suspect and are still investigating,.
