No foul play in woman’s death

RCMP have now ruled out foul play in the death of a young woman found dead at the Elmwood Motel on Canada Day. They haven’t released the cause of death saying they are waiting on forensic tests.

The woman’s mother, however, believes it was an accidental drug overdose. Krista MacKinnon told the Times and Transcript her daughter, 21 year old Taylor Estabrooks, had completed a 10 month drug rehab program a few weeks ago, had gotten a job and renewed relationships with her family. She believes her daughter slipped and relapsed.

Woman accosted at Mapleton Park

A 21 year old woman was walking on a trail at Mapleton Park Monday morning when she says she was grabbed by a strange man.

Megan DeWolfe told CBC a man stepped out of the woods and grabbed her arm…but she managed to break free, run home and call police. She was left with a bruised arm and shaken nerves…saying she’ll never walk that trail off Frampton Lane again.

She was glad she left her baby at home that day but she expressed concern about other women walking on that trail who aren’t 21 and able to fight off their attacker.
