A funeral will be held Wednesday in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, for Lionel Desmond and his mother Brenda. There’s no word on the funeral for his wife Shanna and daughter Aaliyah.
Ottawa has confirmed the government will pay for the services for all four family members after initially saying only Lionel Desmond was covered. Then the Prime Minister got involved and the bureaucrats changed their mind.
A small tanker ran aground in Cape Breton yesterday. The Arca 1 lost engine power and hit the shore at Little Pond in Sydney Mines.
It was empty and en route to Mexico. There were only six crewmembers aboard who were airlifted to safety by helicopter…with a crowd gathering on the shore to watch the dramatic rescue. Nobody was hurt.
The Coast Guard is monitoring the ship and ays there are no signs of any pollution.
