The 2017 striped bass fishery will have a longer season than 2016. The retention period starts April 15th and ends October 31st, an increase of 95 days. The bag limit will be one fish per day until June 14th, and again from September 1st until October 31st. June 15th to August 31st will allow two per day.

Overcrowding solution for Max Aitken Academy set for Monday reveal
A plan to fix overcrowding at Max Aitken Academy is due to be released Monday. The Miramichi K-8 school held its grand opening this week and was built for 500 students, but about 550 are there now. The announcement is set for 10am at the school.
