Max Aitken Academy event this evening

Tonight at the Max Aitken Academy, an event called “100 Years of Loss” will be taking place.

It is to recognize and understand the history of Indian Residential Schools and their impact on indigenous peoples, to celebrate cultural resiliency and pride; and to honour survivors and those who did not make it home.

It starts at 6:30 this evening.

Miramichi snowmobiling report

It’s been a very good year for snowmobiling in New Brunswick.

Paul Barry, with the Miramichi Valley Snow Club; told The Leader that through advertising efforts and great trail systems, New Brunswick snowmobiling tourism has grown over the years.

Ross Antworth, the general manager for the New Brunswick Federation of Snowmobile Clubs; added that “Snowmobiling season doesn’t officially end till April 15th and people are still able to snowmobile out of the Miramichi region, Bathurst; and Edmundston.”
