Three fishermen were rescued yesterday after their vessel ran aground near Neguac.

The crew sent a mayday call Sunday night after they ran aground on a sandbar in Miramichi Bay.

They were picked up about 8 hours later by a search and rescue helicopter and taken to a ballfield where an ambulance was waiting.

Canada’s annual Police Week is underway.

Miramichi police will be having an open house tomorrow at Police Head Quarters on Water Street from 2 til 5 in the afternoon.

Vehicles and equipment will be on display, a K-9 event; and a tactical team display.
