NS Teachers Expect to take Job Action on December 5th

The union that represents nine-thousand public school teachers in Nova Scotia says job action is likely to begin on December 5th. Contract talks between the Nova Scotia government and the union broke off Friday. The two sides agreed to meet this week with a conciliator ahead of a looming strike deadline. Nova Scotia Teachers Union president Liette Doucet says he’s disappointed they failed to reach an agreement.

Popular Cape Breton Singer Charged with Sex Offenses with Minor

A 22-year-old Cape Breton singer-songwriter has been charged with sexually assaulting a boy under the age of 16. Johnathan Stephen MacInnis of Northside East Bay is scheduled to appear in court next month on charges of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching involving a person under the age of 16. The offences are alleged to have occurred between August and November. MacInnis was scheduled to perform in Sydney next month as part of his fifth annual Christmas show but the show is now cancelled.
