In Acadia sports, the Axemen hockey team are in the best of 5 series in the AUS playoffs against St. F.X. Game one was last night in Wolfville with St. F.X. taking game one 4-3 in double overtime. Game two is Friday night also at home, with game 3 Monday in Antigonish. All games start at 7 and you can join Len Hawley for all the action on our sister station AVR, the pre-game show is at 6:40. The men’s and ladies basketball teams are off to Newfoundland to play Memorial Friday night. Tomorrow, the girls play at 1 and the men at 3.

In Valley Wildcats hockey, the Junior Cats are at home Friday against the Dieppe Commandos at 7. Sunday it’s against the Pictou County Crushers at 2. It’s playoff action in the Major Midget League best of 7. The Cats will play Halifax with the first two games at the Halifax Forum Friday and then, Sunday. Game 3 is Saturday March 4th in Berwick. After winning the Major Bantam League, the Cats are in a playoff round best of 3 tilt with Pictou. Game 1 is at the Pictou County Wellness Center Saturday. Game 2 is in Berwick on Saturday March 4th. If needed, game 3 will be Sunday March 5th.

The Junior B Valley Maples Leafs are in a battle with East Hants in the opening round of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs. The Leafs are up 2 games to one against the Penguins. Game 4 is at the East Hants Sportsplex Friday night at 7:30. Game 5 is Monday at 7:30 in Windsor.

Missing man near Monestary

RCMP are searching for a missing man in the Monastery area after his vehicle was found abandoned on East Tracadie Road at Barrios Beach.

Effforts to locate the owner of the vehicle were unsuccessful leading to the launch of a search for the man identified as 23 year old Craig Joseph Perry of Afton. He was last seen around 1:00 Saturday morning leaving a residence in Linwood.

RCMP had a helicopter up in the area along with a ground search team and the Dive team.
