West Hants horse case ruling

West Hants council will not seek reimbursement of burial funds regarding a feral horse.

The horse that was killed was part of Ralph Morash’s herd on Fundy Gypsum property for decades.

It was shot by former deputy warden Gary Cochrane in November 2013.  A $690 burial invoice was received by West Hants in December 2013, and was paid in January 2014.  Many council members questioned using taxpayer’s money to bury the horse, but others feel that they won’t be able to recoup the money from Cochrane.

Kentville home invasion

Police are investigating a home invasion in the Annapolis valley early yesterday morning.

A woman reported she was awakened by two men breaking through her door around 1:30 on Brook Avenue in Kentville.

They threatened her with a knife demanding money, then took off with her purse and cellphone.  The woman wasn’t hurt.
