The soccer and baseball fields at Middleton’s Rotary Park are off-limits due to a beetle grub infestation. About 75 per cent of the ball field has been ruined by birds and other wild animals hunting for grubs – the larvea stage of beetles. The grass will have to be replaced, and the soccer field will be treated with a “compost tea” containing nematodes, which eat grubs.

Local Building Stats on the Decline
Building development was down in Kentville, Berwick and Kings County last month. All three saw year-over-year decreases to begin the fiscal year, with Berwick having a notable drop: from $2.1 million in building value to $56,000. There were three permits issued there last April, just one this year.
