Shelburne memorial

Dozens of families turned out yesterday at the Fishermen’s Memorial in Shelburne to honour those who have died at sea.

The CBC reports the first names etched on the stones on that monument James F. Demings and William H. Demings, who died at sea on Jan. 5, 1856.  The final name is Jim Buchanan who went overboard last January.

There were prayers and music.  Then family members tossed flowers on the waves in memory of lost loved ones.

Meteghan RCMP investigation

The Meteghan RCMP has released a sketch of a man who allegedly indecently exposed himself to a young girl a couple of months ago.

A 16-year-old girl said that she was followed April 10th as she was walking along Highway 1. The man was driving a black two-door car; possibly a Pontiac Sunfire or Chevrolet Cavalier. He got out of the car near the baseball field in Grosses Coques and hid behind some nearby mail boxes while watching the girl as she walked. Then he dropped his pants and grabbed his genitals.

The suspect is white, in his late twenties or early thirties, and at least 5-foot-8 with a thin build. He was wearing a dark blue jacket with a red baseball cap and blue jeans.
