Nova Scotia welcomed more immigrants to the province in 2016 than it has in decades. The Immigration Department says more than 48-hundred immigrants, including 15-hundred refugees, arrived in Nova Scotia in the first 10 months of 2016. That’s the highest number of newcomers to the province since years following the second world war.

Investigation into RCMP Officer Accused of Stealing Cocaine
Former RCMP Staff Sgt. Craig Robert Burnett is alleged to have stolen 10 kilograms of cocaine from a police exhibit locker in Halifax, that; according to the Serious Incident Response Team. Investigators allege Burnett gave the drugs to someone else who sold it and split the proceeds with the Mountie. An internal Police Act investigation is ongoing.
