Cape Sharp prepares tidal turbine for deployment

Deployment of a giant tidal turbine in Minas Passage is on hold again.

Cape Sharp Tidal was planning to drop the 1,000 tonne turbine in the water this past weekend….but it’s on hold while further preparation work is done. The company says it wasn’t because of the weather. It does have a week long window of neap tides to do the work.

Cape Sharp is planning to deploy one turbine this year and a second later.

CB moose cull begins tomorrow

The moose cull in Cape Breton Highlands National Park is due to begin tomorrow.

Protesters are devising plans to disrupt it. A member of the Friends of the Cape Breton Moose says the group intends to cause confusion next weekend once the cull is underway. The hunt could continue until December 18.
