Police have confirmed the identity of a 58-year-old man who was fatally shot in Uniacke Square Monday night.
Terrence Patrick Izzard of Halifax was gunned down outside his home on Cragg Street around 11:00pm.
It was the city’s secnd murder in less than a week and the 11th this year. That has prompted anti-violence groups to raise questions about the amount of gun crimes in the city.
A Truro area man has been sentenced for killing his commin-law wife and her daughter three years ago.
50 year old Gerald Rushton, of Valley, was given life with no parole for 18 years for second degree murder. He pleaded guilty to beating 24 year old Brittany MacPherson to death with a baseball bat in their home just after Christmas of 2013 then he beat 54 year old Elizabeth MacPherson to death with a hammer when she got home from work. He then tried to committ suicide.
