Premier Stephen McNeil sign a partnership agreement yesterday between Nova Scotia and the University of Massachusettes-Dartmouth to develop marine technology.
McNeil was also in Boston for the annual lighting of the Nova Scotia Christmas Tree. The ceremony on the Boston Common drew about 20,000 people last night with another 250,000 watching on T-V.
Tens of thousands of dead herring keep washing ashore along the shores of St. Mary’s Bay…and now elsewhere.
The first sightings were two weeks ago on beaches on St. Marys Bay. Now dead fish are turning up in Annapolis Basin and Bear River.
Biology professor Shawn Craik says the fish could be dying of a virus, pollution, parasites or a poisonous algae bloom…they’re waiting on lab tests.
