Stormy weather

The storm continues…but at least the freezing rain is done. Now it’s just rain and wind…and a lot of it.

That’s making it difficult to drive with hydroplaning and cars being blown around by the very strong winds this morning. Power crews also had difficulty restringing lines…and there are a lot down around the provnce…almost 13,000 customers affected.

Police closed part of Barrington Street between Sackville and Prince because of debris blowing off a building.

Environment Canada is also warning about high surf along the Atlantic coast of the province.

Teachers get first look at proposed contract

Teachers got their first look at the tentative contract worked out last week…and CBC reports the response has been lukewarm at best.

It’s worth an extra $60 million over four years, and the union executive is telling members it was the best deal available.

Teachers have voted against two previous tentative contracts recommendated by the executive. The vote on this one will be February 8th.
