Restigouche recyling plan

A report on how to proceed with curbside recycling in Restigouche will be presented to the Restigouche Regional Service Commission at its August 24th meeting.

The mayor of Dalhousie said that he was very impressed with how Miramichi approached curbside recycling and would like to see the same thing here.

How the bins would be paid for is still to be determined.

People would either be forced to buy the bins, or; the municipalities would provide them.

In that latter case, they’d have to be paid for through property taxes if no provincial funding was available.

Recreaplex energy cost concerns

The Recreaplex in Dalhousie won’t be getting any federal money for renovations under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program.

And, it may have to start another Chase the Ace because it lost income when it could no longer hold its half-and-half draw at a local grocery store.

Officials say they cannot keep paying $10,000 to $12,000 a month for electricity.
