Today from 11am til 2pm, you can help support the Pugwash food bank; as the annual celebration of singer Johnny Cash’s upcoming birthday will take place at the Pugwash co-op.

You are encouraged to dress up in black, enjoy some birthday cake and classic country music; and make a donation of a non-perishable food item to the Open Hamper Food Bank.

Amherst is stopping its policy of only hiring students who live in town.

Deputy Mayor Sheila Christie told the Citizen-Record that requirement is strange, while they allow some regular town staff and senior management not to do the same; calling it a double standard.

The student hiring process will be based on merit alone.
