The swimming restrictions at Parlee Beach are still in effect although they’ve been lifted at Murray Beach.
A noted biologist thinks they should be looking at the sediment for the source of the bacterial problem. Professor Doug Campbell at Mount Allison University told CBC a spike in bacteria levels doesn’t usually occur at the same time at different beaches. He thinks accumulated contamination in the sediment, built up over time at the beaches, might be the source.
