Efforts to clean up abandoned vessels

B-C New Democratic MP Sheila Malcolmson came to Nova Scotia yesterday with her campaign to get Ottawa to close a loophole in laws on abandoned vessels.

Malcolmson brought her campaign here because of a couple of high profile cases in recent years…the MV Miner which ground on Scatarie Island and the MV Farley Mowatt which was abandoned in Shelburne Harbour.

The M-P has tabled a bill that would make the coast guard responsible for directing the removal of all abandoned vessels.
