CBRM is marking the 100th anniversary of the New Waterford mine explosion. The whistle blew at the No. 12 Colliery at 7:30 the morning of July 25th, 1917. 65 people died, and next Tuesday there will be a children’s lantern parade, ceremony, Men of the Deeps concert and a social. The event starts at 6:30 at Colliery Lands Park.
