Prestigious appointment for UdeM Dean of Law

The Dean of Law at the Universit√© de Moncton has been selected to the position of Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues at the United Nations’ Human Rights Council.

Fernand de Varennes, a native of Saint-Paul is the first Acadian and person from the Maritime Provinces to be appointed to what is known as a “special procedures mandate” in the international human rights protection organization. He will be examining, supervising, advising and reporting on minority situations, including to the U-N General Assembly.
